Ochre Ceramics and Pottery is a small private enterprise based in the village of Vadod near Anand in Gujarat. Ochre’s vision is to use local craft skills and materials to redesign functional ceramic products that have a wider market. The raw materials used are ceramic clay and glazes (lead free). The products are fired at 1200-1250 degree Celsius regarded as stoneware ceramics. They are produced either by handmade methods of pottery or by throwing on the potter’s wheel. Local people with no previous exposure to clay and traditional pottery have been trained by Ochre in processing and packaging of ceramics. Ochre employs 6 artisans.
