Katha

In 1990, Katha began working with women’s economic empowerment and community revitalization, founding the Katha School of Entrepreneurship and Income Generation Program. Here women could go to be trained in skills such as sewing and stitching to allow them to be entrepreneurs in their own communities. In working with these communities, we believe that empowering oneself is a personal journey, and EACH one of us must feel the need to “be the change we want to see in the world.” And this is what our women of the Govindpuri slum community have done. The training administered in the Katha School of Entrepreneurship empowers these women to be self-sufficient to create sustainable livelihoods for their families. The women in the Katha centers create funky, brightly colored and well-made pillows, blankets, bags and various other adorable home decor items. Each purchase you make empowers one woman to provide a sustainable income for her family. To learn more about Katha you can log on to www.katha.org
